Frequently Asked Questions
What is Curioporium?
Curioporium is an interactive and immersive experience through the strange and unusual. It is not an escape room. You and 5 others will be guided by a host as they take you through the Havishams' Vault that is filled with the curious, odd and strange items and exhibits from teh known and unknown world.
Is this an Escape Room or like a Haunted House?
No. Curioporium is an immersive theatrical experience interwoven with the story of the Havisham family. You as our guests are an integral part of the evening.
How many guests are there?
Due to the nature of the Curioporium experience, it is limited to only 6 participants per Experience. This allows for a more immersive experience. We suggest booking the entire show with friends or family members.
Can I leave at anytime?
Yes. One of our trusted assistants will help any attendee that may need to leave The Vault at any time.
What if I do not want to be there with other attendees that I don't know?
If you do not want to attend with other attendees, please book for an entire block. At booking if 6 tickets are not available for your selected time then there are others who have already booked tickets.
How long is the Experience?
It is a 90-minute Experience.
Can I take photos or videos?
No. Photos and video taking are strictly prohibited within Curioporium. We do have a specific area outside our doors for those that wish to take pictures.
Is Curioporium for children?
We are appropriate for ages 13 and up.
Is this scary?
It depends on what you feel is scary. There are interactive and live elements that might occur during your Experience.
Is it always the same?
No. We have created an environment where if you were to come several times you would still not discover everything. No two hosts or assistants are alike. Each have a special tie to Curioporium and the Havishams. They each have their own perspective. We are also continually seeking out new curiosities and unusual artifacts to add to the collection.
Do you have any other option other than a The Vault Experience?
Yes. Open Vault Thursdays is a 60-minute self-guided tour of several areas of Curioporium: Grande Salon, Sanctum Obscura Library & Laboratory and the Hall of Unnatural History. Visitors can explore at their own pace. There is no guided tour by a host. During this time much of the paranormal activity and creatures are hibernating or resting.
Where are you located?
We are located inside of 1429 Park Street in Parkville, CT. We are in the same building as Hog River Brewery and Pine & Iron Axe Throwing.
Is there parking?
Yes. There is on-street parking located at our main entrance on Bartholomew Ave and there is a parking lot direct across from the building.
What is your cancellation/refund policy?
Once you purchase a ticket(s), all sales are final. There are no refunds, no matter what the circumstances may be. However, you are allowed to reschedule with at least 24-hour prior notice and if there is space if you would like. There is a $40 rescheduling fee.
What if someone is running late?
We have a five-minute grace period! But after five minutes the experience will start and there is no admittance.
